If you read these blogs you may know him as Culfinatan.
Culfinatan is the Elvish equivalent for the surname of Dr. Liam Atchison (Thol Culfinatan). Liam lives with his wife, Precious, in Overland Park, Kansas. He has been a church-planting pastor, a university professor, and an academic dean in a traditional seminary. He has taught ancient history and general history courses at Kansas State University and currently co-directs Emmanuel House, a center for study, spiritual formation, and ministry preparation in Kansas City, Manhattan, and in Lincoln, Nebraska. Here is his educational portfolio:
BA, Kansas State University
ThM, Dallas Theological Seminary
PhD, Kansas State University
Postgraduate studies at Nova Southeastern University, Colorado Christian University, and the University of Manchester (UK) Nazarene Theological College.
Scholarly societies and honors: Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Alpha Theta, Outstanding Young Men of America, 2007-08 nominee Professor of the Year for Kansas State University HDS.
Liam was the founding editor of Mars Hill Review. He has had articles appear in that venerable journal as well as Confident Living, Fides et Historia, and Socratic Enquirer. He and Precious wrote a book together entitled Grief (NavPress).
Liam and Precious have two grown children of whom they are proud and one granddaughter, who ‘hung the moon’. They currently live with a spoiled Cocker Spaniel, which is nevertheless full of excellent education and thus must be accommodated.
Liam was born and raised in Leavenworth, Kansas, but has lived in Dallas, Denver, Seattle (Whidbey Island), and practically lived in Manchester, England for a time. He has only made it to three continents thus far.
